As far as I can recall this is now the third 'incident' involving the wires at this location in the last 6 months.
I was on the 1657 Leeds-Doncaster when an announcement came on advising of the above problem. Quick thinking, I headed for the 1711 XC Bristol train, thinking that, as a DMU it would be less likely to be affected. So far so good.
I got talking to a lovely girl from Plymouth and all was going well on my 11 minute journey to Wakefield Westgate, until about half a mile outside the station where we stopped for about 10 minutes.
An announcement came on advising that the train would be taking a diversionary route to Sheffield, which I presumed would be via Kirkgate, reversing out via Barnsley. Turns out the train was going back via Leeds and "Methley", which is the Wakefield Kirkgate route! Why not just go from Westgate to Kirkgate and reverse?
Looking at Realtime Trains the train went back via Leeds, Methley and Hare Park, before rejoining its original route. Hare Park is before where the problem was.
Not sure as the logic of this.
