Hi all,

Similar post as many others on here - travel in from Hildenborough to Charing Cross often and have been buying short tickets from London Bridge instead. Stopped at Charing X and quite a few will also appear when Southeastern look through my Trainline so expecting a heavy fine etc. - nothing you guys haven't heard before.

My issue is this - I travel in from Hildenborough and this was communicated to both officers. The officer taking down information on his notepad wrote Hildenborough as where I started my journey, I confirmed this myself when I signed off on it. However, the other officer who provided me with the printed receipt of the MG11 wrote my starting station as High Brooms. This is further away from London than Hildenborough and would result in a steeper fine.

I am wondering whether I should reach out to Southeastern to inform them of this error?

Thanks

This is probably because the station codes are similar - HIB and HLB.

I'd wait until they reach out to you first, at which point you get an opportunity to explain what has happened. You can use my above explanation to help them understand why there may be an error. They should have the contemporaneous notes anyway.

Wait and see what happens.

When the letter arrives you may want to explain why you use Hildenborough - you probably live there - to validate that Hildenborough is your home station.
