Off peak validity on connecting service?

We have off-peak singles from Penzance to Didcot for next Friday (4th August). It seems quite possible that we'll arrive at Reading during the evening peak period when off-peak and super off-peak are not valid on HST departures from Paddington.

Our tickets show restriction code 2X, which by my reading only restricts the departure time from Penzance on the outward section. Does that mean I am right in thinking that they *would* be valid on any service from Reading to Didcot during the evening peak.

The peak time restriction is determined by the ticket not the train! Therefore your ticket is valid on any train after 0640.

That's a Super Off Peak. there is no evening restrictions whatsoever on the outward leg.

As you have a single, you can ignore the wording for the return leg; it's not applicable.
