Off-peak to/from LU Zones - tube time restrictions?

Are there any time restrictions on off peak-tickets to or from one of the London zones?

The ticket I'm looking at is Oxford-LU Zones. On the return portion, the first service from Paddington that's allowed on this ticket is 9:23. Am I allowed to use the tube to actually reach Paddington in time? And, if the answer is yes (NR planner suggests so), how likely is it that TfL staff actually lets me in if the ticket fails at the LU barriers?

Yes, tickets from/to Underground Zones (e.g., ZONE U12*) have no time restriction for the portion of the ticket travelling on London Underground or interavailable routes. This is different to Travelcard tickets.

You should encounter no problems.

Have you done the journey yet? If so, was it alright?

The LU add-on amounts are a set price, regardless of the time of travel, and have no time restrictions.

Time restrictions only apply for the NR portion of the journey, where applicable for the relevant restriction code.

LU barriers should respect this fact, so the chances of issues on LU is minimal.

I could see more potential for problems on inter-available routes, if the gateline is an NR-operated gateline, but hopefully those staff would be used to LU tickets on such routes.

Is it also true with restriction code B1 (not valid before 09:29 on any train from any station) as well, which is the restriction code used in in-boundary day Travelcards? (This is different from the OP's ticket which only bars the use for trains departing / arriving London Terminals.)

If I can use such a ticket on the Underground during peak hours, what is the basis for the difference that I can't use an off-peak day Travelcards during the morning peak, which uses the same restriction code?

In other terms, can I use such a ticket to do my morning commute by tube during peak hours, then continue the outbound portion in the afternoon on National Rail? Such tickets with a 26-30 Railcard can be cheaper than paying separately if I can avoid paying peak PAYG fares.

Because the 0930 restriction comes from the Off-Peak Day Travelcard product. The conditions for its use require use only after 0930. The restriction code only applies to the National Rail portion — it just happens to align in most cases.

A Super Off-Peak Travelcard from GTR has different restrictions, but is still valid within Z1-6 from 0930.
