Off peak day ticket vs super off peak VTEC

As the title suggests, is there a difference between the two? My daughter has just called me from the 19:00 KGX-NCL train to say that they announced off peak day tickets are not valid on that train. She has a super off peak which was sold for that service on the VTEC website and I have just double checked and it can definitely be used on trains departing London after 18:59 which to my mind specifically includes the 19:00 otherwise it would say after 19:00. She is a bit of a worrier but in the unlikely event she is questioned should she politely refer the TM to their own website or buy a new ticket and claim it back, presuming we are correct?

Looking at the timetable, the 1900 (to Edinburgh) is first stop York, which doesn't have an Off-Peak Day Return fare to London anyway so the point is moot.

Off-Peak Day Returns to London on VTEC are only available from Stevenage, Peterborough, Grantham and Newark.

For Stevenage, the restrictions leaving London essentially mirror those that apply to the Any Permitted (Great Northern priced) ticket, namely not valid on trains scheduled to depart between 0430 and 0930 (inclusive), nor between 1630 and 1901 (inclusive) Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays).

For Peterborough, Grantham and Newark it's more restrictive, namely not valid on trains scheduled to depart between 0300 and 0952 (inclusive), nor between 1540 and 1901 (inclusive) Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays).

Which is why they’re not valid! Thought I’d never heard of that fare, makes a lot of sense now.

I guess people could be using a split of Day returns, the first of which may not be valid.
