why is it that on Llanelli station's TVM you can buy an off peak day return to Cardiff Central but you can't buy this type of ticket from Carmarthen's TVM?
I give up, why is it that on Llanelli station's TVM you can buy an off peak day return to Cardiff Central but you can't buy this type of ticket from Carmarthen's TVM?

Perhaps it is related to the fact that there are no off peak day return fares between Carmarthen and Cardiff Central. The only tickets which Arriva Trains Wales choose to sell are Standard Day Singles (£14.60) and Returns (£15.10) and Off-Peak Returns valid for return within a month, both Standard (£19.20) and First Class (£30.70).
I thought you were going to give us the answer, as in why did the chicken cross the road!
Have you contacted whoever manages the station and asked them, I mean they should be able to tell you.
