Does anyone else think it’s absolutely ridiculous that politics is effectively banned as a subject on radio and TV on polling day? Especially when newspapers are still permitted to be as partisan as they like?

Not really. It's difficult to overhear someone else's newspaper and I've never had my TV show interrupted by a newspaper break.

There is actually some benefit to the restrictions. By limiting the ability of politicians to actively campaign on polling day it reduces the possibility that such campaigning would take place all the way up to the polling station entrance and thus makes it extremely unlikely that there could be any attempts to intimidate voters. As such it could be seen as a very good idea to limit political coverage on polling day. In any case by the time we come to vote I suspect many of us have had enough of politcians' promises and are glad of a day off from dealing with them.

Last ditch efforts are often the worst, the ones most needing a fact check or a reply from the opponents. I also like the silence.

Didn't stop GB News doing it, although the clip on YouTube and Twitter were deleted, so perhaps Ofcom stepped in.
