There were still some Northern services via Derby until May 2022, but that was an evening service both ways.Last Northern Leeds to Nottingham stopper and the first working the following morning back to Leeds (believe this was pre covid possibly even further back) used to make a guest appearance in Derby.
Didn't some trains go via the [Philips park] route then Marple Sheffield?. I remember going that way in the 80s aswell.Nottingham-Blackpool North. Regular service in the late 80s, not sure how long it lasted. Well known in the late 80s for being loco-hauled vice Sprinter, and when hauled it went Nottingham-Derby-Chesterfield and via the old road via Beighton to enter Sheffield from the north, then via Stockport and Manchester Victoria.
There is engineering work between Gloucester and Ashchurch for Tewkesbury this weekend so no trains are running to or through Cheltenham on Cross Country or GWR routes. Cross Country are running an hourly service between Birmingham and Worcestershire Parkway and a similar service between Gloucester and Bristol / Plymouth with connecting rail replacement buses between Worcestershire Parkway and Cheltenham / Gloucester. GWR are running replacement buses between Gloucester, Cheltenham, Ashchurch and Worcester Shrub HillToday's 1V68 was billed as the somewhat esoteric and something of a mouthful 1504 departure from Edinburgh to Worcestershire Parkway.
Edt: Seems to be the destination of choice for XCs from Edinburgh today presumably due to planned engineering.
Thanks. I noticed from https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/disruptions/ that for at least part of Saturday the planned working of trains came unstuck. There is engineering work between Gloucester and Ashchurch for Tewkesbury this weekend so no trains are running to or through Cheltenham on Cross Country or GWR routes. Sounds a very worthy entrant to this thread. Where does the stock go once anyone for Sleaford has alighted?Every Saturday at 1851 there's a direct EMR service from Liverpool Lime Street that continues onto Sleaford. I'm not sure why it exists to be honest
2O94 to Nottingham non-stop, https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C59760/2026-10-10/detailed#allox_id=0Sounds a very worthy entrant to this thread. Where does the stock go once anyone for Sleaford has alighted?

Just a thought, but is route knowledge of Allington N Jc to Allington W Jc involved? There's one train a day each way that avoids Grantham (early morning Notts-Skeg and late evening Skeg-Notts) but on Saturdays the morning train terminates at Sleaford and the evening train doesn't run, so might 2O94 be there for that purpose?Every Saturday at 1851 there's a direct EMR service from Liverpool Lime Street that continues onto Sleaford. Central used to run some really odd services. Another was Lincoln to Worcester (can't remember which station).Back in Central Trains days, there was one morning service from Northampton to Aberystwyth. Not sure how long it lasted.
Or most likely little demand for Sleaford - Grantham on a Saturday night and it runs in service rather than as a long distance ECS (I suspect most Saturdays the passenger loadings would be very low).Just a thought, but is route knowledge of Allington N Jc to Allington W Jc involved?
