Earlier today I bought a long distance ticket (roughly £45) from the guard on board a local train. I had around £22 worth of RTVs (made up of two separate vouchers) and wanted to pay the rest on card.
He said he couldn't split the payment across both so he had to charge the whole £45 to my card, then exchanged the vouchers for £22 in cash.
Now I'm not complaining as of course no one lost out (in fact it's a nice free cash advance for me from my credit card...) but I was just wondering if this is the normal way of doing it?
