Hi, was wondering because I've noticed some very, very, odd-distanced services lately, for example, an EMT Manchester to Leicester non-stop ECS (Having just terminated from Norwich, and I think it was a WTT schedule despite the Nottingham closure), some Tattenham Corner to London services being classed as 'express' (Which they are because they are limited stop) even though Tattenham is in the fare zone 6, and all of the Lymington branch services being classed as 1Jxx. (1 obviously classing it as an express working).

Have you recalled any oddly-distanced workings lately?

Thanks,
Jim.

The diverted trains around the Notts blockade are running to WTT schedules - the whole lot's in there, making both WTTs rather messy! No doubt the Leicester ECS is a consequence of the blockade.

Don't know about distance as such but I can't figure out why Derby/Crewe workings are all class 1.

ECS workings between Nottingham and Manchester/Liverpool are nothing special - EMT don't stable anything at Manchester or Liverpool, so the first train of the morning from Liverpool to Norwich has to run ECS from Nottingham Eastcroft (and back in the evening). During the blockade they're stabling at Leicester, and the blockade was planned far enough in advance that they're all WTT paths.

During the blockade they're stabling at Leicester,

Only a 4 car 158 and a 2 car 158 are stabling at Leicester, one from East Midlands Parkway and the other from Manchester. The rest of the 158s are stabling at Etches Park in Derby, with the ECS to Liverpool in the morning coming from there, the set stabled at Leicester goes up to East Midlands Parkway to start a service to Liverpool, as shunting around to get to the down slow platform requires a trip down to Loughborough and back from Derby direction.

Stabling 3 sets at Leicester also allows for a fresh set for the Loughborough to Leicester shuttles every morning as only one double set is required for Liverpool to Norwich services from Leicester, the unit from the previous day shuttles returns to Etches Park every evening.

thats why the shuttle was a 158 when I had the coach to myself on it on monday, as with 156s being on liverpool to norwich recently it suprised me to get a 158.
