More than 10 years after privatisation, the names of the railways can be seen many places elsewhere, with lots of companies that are involved being in something completely seperate. Here's 2 obvious ones that I can think of:

Virgin Cola

Serco prison vans

can anyone else think of other such examples?

Arriva buses too but a train operator also being a bus/coach operator isn't a terribly odd combination.

Although I don't think it's got any UK TOCs, I often see Veolia on bin lorries around here. I think they have train services in the Netherlands though.

It's a worldwide thing too. ;)

I they don't have any TOCs any more but Veolia Transportation used to be called Connex Group, and we all know what became of them!

Serco do a lot more than just prison vans and trains. They provide all the fleet support service for the Royal Navy, in partnership with Denholm.

Yes Serco do some of the weapons as well - visit their website, it's a good showcase of what they do!

Wasn't there some kind of dodgy dealing that involved Connex South Central / South Eastern paying Onyx to clean trains, but Onyx didn't actually bother cleaning the trains, merely pocketed the money?

I was considering class 59's today and the various liveries? Some of them must still be pre privatisation?
