Obtaining First Great Western timetable/s

Hi,

Is there anywhere in the Midlands where I can collect a First Great Western timetable from?

I need a copy of their “West 1 – London to the West of England” timetable and would rather collect one in person if I can.

You may be lucky at either of the Worcester stations (not really Midlands I appreciate), although they may only carry the timetables relevant to their FGW services - London-Oxford/Worcester/Hereford (East 4) and Bristol-Great Malvern (Central 5).

Other than that it'll be a trip to a FGW station or a friendly request via there social media teams to see if they'll stick one in the post to you. Don't ask, don't get.

Is the online version of 'West 1' not suitable?

Worcester Foregate Street travel centre used to the best in the country for getting timetables - they used to have the Derbyshire CC timetable booklets, Eurostar and Virgin timetables and just about anything in between at various points; however it's been a while since I've been and it was redeveloped last year, so the state of play may have changed. I would concur that they may be willing to send one though - drop their customer service a quick email and see.

Yes. It's £4 though and the closest it could be obtained to the Midlands is Oxford or Cheltenham.

Until the last timetable change you could buy two such books! One by TSO and one by Middleton Press however as of May only Middleton are still producing one. I believe you can still buy a European wide timetable book.

Think they meant just the FGW only one, but yes there is one with *every* train service in if you really want!

I don't see any reason why the state of the travel centre ought to have changed - the station refurbishment didn't affect it - I've never used it though so I couldn't compare either way.

Trying to pick up various point made here:

Worcester Foregate Street travel centre. Yes they do a damn good job in tricky circumstances - only such outlet LM runs, for example - but there is currently an issue over staffing, with unfilled vacancies due to the current redundancy consultations freezing recruitment at LM in case people want to transfer to new roles filling such vacancies, so random closures have been a feature in recent weeks.

Whether they have an FGW West 1 timetable is doubtful, as FGW tend to send them the ones they think will be most obviously useful for Worcester passengers, as bnm says.

The best place to get any FGW pocket timetable is Paddington, where they normally have the full range in stock.
