OASIS.....not everyone's cup of tea but for those who remember the 90s phenomenon, and those younger fans next year's concerts are very welcome. But hang on.....ticket sites selling out in minutes....tickets being resold for £6k....is this a "sell out" by the band? I mean will they be playing to a load of Cheshire Footballers, the car parks full of electric Porsches? Might not be the gig they or the band expect!!

Noel did such a great gig at the Albert Hall once, in aid of The Children's Cancer Trust. Let's hope proceeds from one of those sell out gigs go to deserving causes too.

listed for =/= sell for. Also good chance of tickets resold through non-official channels to get cancelled anyway, which is another big disincentive for anyone to attempt to buy one being resold (even at non-bonkers prices).

You'd have thought that given the escalating global security situation they'd want to ID everyone attending massive gigs these days. You wouldn't get on a plane with no security checks about who's on it!

Well let's hope so. Other than that, if the government is short of cash then tax ticket resales at 50%. Should pay for a few hospitals.....

What is the betting that the two massive egos will have another bust up and the show(s) will be abandoned or cancelled entirely. Do you think that you are going to get your £6,000 reimbursed?

Interesting..... thing is if concerts are cancelled then surely refund goes to card which paid for them? So tout gets refund, secondary purchaser gets nowt....a risk people might need to consider. Of course the tout would have to record the ticket number or some other evidence to get their money back too.

A lot of money to pay for a Beatles tribute band.

The bigger issue for me is that Ticketmaster are using dynamic pricing, so people are queuing online and then finding that due to high demand the price as doubled.

That’s functionality that the band can ask them to disable, but clearly they haven’t.

Absolutely immoral price gouging

And yet the Gallaghers have the nerve to tell people not to resell tickets above face value.

Still, if people are daft enough to still pay the inflated prices then that’s their issue

Personally, I’d not go to an Oasis concert even if tickets were free

I belive there has been talk of anti-tout legislation. This will hopefully finally encourage the government to ignore the lobbying being done by touts.

Mind you, if they stand to make £50m from the tour, imagine the millions more fans will have paid to resellers..........and possibly all tied up in money laundering organised crime etc.....government should act to outlaw reselling on security grounds. We need to know who's at the gig to avoid repeats of awful events in the not so recent past.

And more. An excited family member spent the day in a queue only to find Cardiff’s £135 standing tickets were nearer to £500. Disgusting behaviour.

No band, and I mean no band has influenced so many through the years than the Beatles as a group and individual band members solo.

Without wanting to get into a "were the Beatles any good" argument, the main influence on other people that the Beatles gave was "we can do what they're doing and get famous from it".

The Beatles were revolutionary, but they are not unmatched in their abilities.

As Lennon said of Ringo, ‘not even the best drummer in The Beatles’.

The band was undoubtedly greater than the sum of its parts as solo careers proved. George Martin was probably their greatest asset.

I'm glad I never caught the live performance bug. I did find other expensive hobbies, but they all have 'fixed' prices.

Who benefits most from Dynamic Pricing, the promotor or Ticketmaster?

Don't Ticketmaster also having their fingers in the secondary market by owning one of the main resell websites?

----

Just a shame Oasis only ran a ballot for the presale, rather than a general ballot, similar to Wimbledon or the Olympics (or that one-off Led Zeppelin show) where people are given a window of 5+ days in which to register for the chance to buy the tickets, and then the ballot is made with those lucky enough to get picked being charged for the tickets they requested. Better than a 'Fastest Finger First' style rush.

-----

As for the "Anti-Tout" laws, even if it's a law saying tickets can only be resold at face value plus 5%, the sooner the better

As Lennon said of Ringo, ‘not even the best drummer in The Beatles’.
Unfortunately that is allegedly just a made up tale, but having said that, even though Ringo was probably nowhere to being the best drummer in he world (McCartney was an excellent drummer) he was definitely the best drummer for the Beatles, and that was the most important thing.

If you listen to "Ticket to Ride" or "I feel fine", you'll hear that Ringo is a very very good drummer. Try to play these riffs and you'll have even more respect.

Yes me too. Outrageously gouging people there. But…. if people are willing to pay that then I suppose it is fair enough.

No! Its two younger folk and they’ve been pointed towards Download or Reading, 3 days with camping for less than the price of the Gallagher family reunion/fights.

Been reading about this earlier, makes my blood boil.
It's the face value aspect, So tickets are £xxx-xx to or whatever when you've 5 hours it's gone 'In Demand' ticketing pricing. Apparently it's well known business model, not just to Ticketmaster.
ASA (advertising standards agency) has asked people to get in touch, I wish they would to try and stop this kind of thing happening again. Not holding my breath there.

The Beatles were and always will be my favourite band. I like Ringo’s playing on ‘Rain’ the B side of Paperback Writer. Quite strange that Ringo’s only real solo was on ‘The End’ the last song on Abbey Road, the last studio album the Beatles made.

Note: Let It Be was released afterwards but was recoded before.

Doesn’t help when Ticketmaster website can’t cope to the extent that you spend eight hours in a queue, then when you finally try to select tickets the site crashes and tells you to refresh the page, only when you do that it then says you’ve been identified as a bot, kicks you off the site and blocks any attempt to get back on again…….
