I think they are to be applauded for continuing to use the neutral white/grey/yellow livery first introduced by Connex on their inherited stock, even if they have tied with the odd idea at a repaint.

I certainly don't. SouthEastern's trains look horrible, the "value" livery while under government control was appropriate to save costs, but Govia really haven't bothered with the livery at all. All they've done is splash warning-panel yellow on the doors to do the minimum possible to comply with regulations. IMHO the trains look "unfinished" and cheap.

Southern dropped the Network but kept the South Central post Connex and prior to the full launch of the Southern brand etc)

It was network southeast in BR times. Network SouthCentral was an independent train company that ran for 4year before connex took over. Connex thought it would be less confusing and cheaper to keep it as SouthCentral but put Connex infront.

Network South Central was a state owned shadow franchise, which was then let to Connex.

I couldn't agree more. I always found Connex's livery disgusting (I hope nobody was paid for putting yellow and grey together! ) the sooner it's consigned to the cess-pool of history the better.
