NXEC Interim livery

which is basically the GNER livery with new vinyls. The new livery looks so tacky and 'plastic model train' ish, while the old GNER livery is more of a 'proper; train livery. And the new one shows dirt up very badly since it's mostly white (saw the repainted Mk 3 rake a few days, was mostly brown). Can we not persuade NXEC to just stick with the interim livery? I understand GNER will probably have some rights to it, but surely this can't extend to a navy blue colour scheme?

As much as I hated GNER, the current interim livery would look alright. Maybe change the colour on the doors though to further eliminate signs of GNER though.

And as much as I hate NXEC, their livery does look fairly nice and modern when it's clean.

why do you hate GNER? Always provided me with a good service, and IMO was always the best long-distance operator around-my experiences with MML, FGW & Virgin were far less pleasant.

Painting the doors white would be ok, then we wouldn't have the horrible orange/white clash that currently exists.

Agreed with painting the doors white, the current clash of colours is a bit bizarre.

As for hating GNER, too many reasons to list without going off-topic, but I never had a totally enjoyable with them. FGW, in contrast, were much better in my experience, with MML topping the charts of passenger satisfaction for me.

It is now a requirement that the passenger doors are a contrasting colour or device
Where a contrast isn't possible then an orange or red (minimum 40% application) has to be used

Why paint the doors on the GNER livery when the entire coach is going to be repainted...
I was under the impression it was to paint the doors white on the new NX livery

We were hoping for NXEC to have a rethink on their new livery, since it's a bit rubbish. AFAIK the doors will be Grey.

Can't stand either of them. The interim livery seems as though it's been forced into place, and even if the doors were white the trains would still not look right.
As for the complete livery, all I can say is that it reminds me far too much of North America's Greyhound and Grey Line buses.

If there's one thing I can't stand at all, it's the fact that bus companies are buying out the train companies and advertising the fact that they are!

That's nothing new, apart from using the same name.

National express have run many train companies; NXEA and NXEC (obviously ), c2c, Midland Mainline, ScotRail, Standstead Express, Wales and Borders, WAGN, Wessex Trains, Central Trains and Silverlink

I don't mind bus companies being the parent company, but surely franchises do not need to advertise the fact that bus companies are taking over British Rail.
The only bus company I can stand right now is Stagecoach. They have two different rail franchises, and both of them have 'Trains' in the name. Even if their liveries are a little complex and may not quite look right, colourful liveries are better than the grey and white monstrosity that Midland Mainline would have become if not for East Midlands Trains and Stagecoach.

But they also have a 49% share in Virgin Trains.

To be honest I don't think you can judge Parent Companies on Liveries..

I can safely say that my point is that I will not turn my life around until National Express has been liquidated and I dance on their grave... and I say that with a great deal of anticipation.
Stagecoach may have their livery out and about, but they don't go around stamping 'stagecoach' before their franchise do they? I can quite safely say that National Express would have done that to Midland Mainline if Stagecoach hadn't come in. Never really liked the new MML livery anyway, preferred the older MML 'stag' livery.

I could argue for hours over the many downsides of GNER. Why so many people supported them when they were one of the biggest rip-off TOCs in the country I don't know.

Anyway, that's hardly the topic here so I won't carry on but bear in mind two points. One is the above comment is just one thing I hated them for. Two is the fact I'm one of the biggest GNER haters in the world. Despised them, refused to travel with whenever that was possible, would argue against them at every opportunity...

How anyone can claim to be a fan of GNER befuddles me.

But since that's going off-topic already, that's all I'll say.

What because they've coloured their trains in with White and Grey over the livery of a defunct company?

You really do need to accept that NatEx have taken over and you seriously do need to get over the fact that GNER have gone..
