hi all,

i'm diong a little research into National Express East coast and East Anglia. i was wondering does anyone have the coach fomations for the East coast services.

Also does anyone know what EMU's get send where on the East Anglia, for example what EMU's run to Chingford etc.

Diagrams for East Anglia EMU's would are also be good.

Its for a little project i'm doing.

Anyone has other infomation particually for the East Anglia section i would like to know. I'm from Newcastle so know the East Coast route very well just not the Anglia.

Thanks

Out of date EMU diagrams can be found here. (scroll down to diagrams for "one") These were for early 2007 only, but should give you a rough idea of the workings at least for just now :).

Not sure about HST formations or the exact names for the Mk4s, but the 225's are something like:

Mallard Formation (GNER/NXEC red door livery):
LOCO-TSOe-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-TRSB-TFO-TFO-TFO-DVT

Pullman Formation (GNER original/Intercity Swallow livery):
LOCO-TSOe-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-TRFB-TFO-TFO-TFO-DVT

Standard Formation (GNER original/Intercity Swallow livery):
LOCO-TSOe-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-TRFB-TFO-TFO-DVT

TSO - Trailer Standard Open
TSOe - Trailer Standard Open (End)
TFO - Trailer First Open
TRSB - Standard Class Buffet Vehicle (not official code)
TRFB - First Class Buffet Vehicle (not official code)
DVT - Driving Van Trailer

The small windows on all the coaches are at the same end except the standard buffet vehicle which is the opposite way round.

From what I can see on the net, I think, and I could be wrong, that the HST formations are as follows:

Mallard 2+9 Formation (GNER/NXEC red door livery)
PC-TGS-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-TRFB*-TFO-TFO-PC

Standard 2+8 Formation (Intercity Swallow/GNER Original livery)
PC-TGS-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-TRFB*-TFO-TFO-PC

PC - Power car
TGS - Trailer Guard Standard
TSO - Trailer Standard Open
TFO - Trailer First Open
TRFB - Trailer Restaurant Buffet First (*I think this is the Vehicle they use but it maybe another buffet Vehicle)

One of the TSOs in the Mallard formation is the designated disabled coach and I think the window arrangement is different on this vehicle.

I can't say exactly when the extra TSO was added and I vaguely recall reports of non GNER coaches in the sets, so there may have been some pre-Mallard sets with an extra coach or some post-Mallard sets in a 2+8 formation.
