Just browsing through RTT after watching the classic traction convoy heading that way last night and was intrigued to see two Derehams listed Dereham UKF and Dereham Market Place (Dereham coach on National Rail)

Further investigation on National Rail shows this a bus service for Dereham to Peterborough
Is this a legacy from previous passenger train service seeing as Dereham is now part of the preserved Mid Norfolk or maintaining touch with pax for a future service. Be interested if there are other towns now connected that have a permanent bus service shown on RTT or National Rail Enquiries as a location

Was this originally one of the connecting coaches off East Coast services which were part of the GNER privatisation package (specially liveried vehicles - I remember seeing the Wakefield-Bradford one at Forster Sq occasionally)?

It metamorphosed into through ticketing on the regular Peterborough-Lynn-Dereham bus (which I guess runs to Norwich?).

ECML-Dereham would never have been a serious traffic flow in pre-Beeching days, and I don't recall it as a destination in the NFM circa 1980.

Its for the First bus X1 that runs from Peterborough, Wisbech, Swaffham, Dereham, Norwich then to Yarmouth/Lowestoft
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Hunstanton & Wells are on RTT but worth noting the bus services aren't live

You can also buy tickets to these places as well

Back to the X1 bus it shows on the departure boards at Peterborough station mixed in with the trains, through tickets are expensive on this service and the validity of tickets always sends you to Peterborough, Downham Market to Swaffham sends you to Ely then Peterborough then bus back along the A47 when the easiest way and quickest is train to Lynn then board this bus outside the station
