Nuneaton to Liverpool Lime Street Easter weekend Super Off-Peak Return availability.

Hi all,

I'm looking to travel between Nuneaton and Liverpool Lime Street over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, outward journey on Good Friday, 3rd April, arriving in Liverpool around 1500, and returning on Easter Sunday, 5th April, departing Liverpool around 1100.

The TrainSplit app says that the cheapest available ticket is a Super Off-Peak Return, with the following itinerary:

Outward on 03-04-2026:
LNWR 1U33
Nuneaton 1255
Crewe 1352

Liverpool Lime Street 1447

Return on 05-04-2026:
LNWR 1G51

Am I correct in thinking that the Super Off-Peak Return should be available for travel anytime between Good Friday and Easter Monday, due to both days being classed as Bank Holidays?

When I try to buy the tickets using either the London Northwestern Railway or National Rail apps, I cannot see the Super Off-Peak Return available to buy. The cheapest ticket/s I am being recommended are a Off-Peak Return or a Super Off-Peak Single for travel on the Friday and a Off-Peak Single for the return journey on the Sunday.

Is it because there is limited availability of Super Off-Peak tickets?

I could just buy the tickets using TrainSplit but I wanted to confirm validity.

As it's my first time trying to buy any Super Off-Peak ticket and visiting Liverpool, I know I'm missing something obvious, so could someone please advise?

There is no limited availability, the ticket is available for unrestricted purchase including at the station on the day.
It is also valid on the days you want.
If a booking site prevents its purchase, it is wrong, although this knowledge doesn’t really help you. It could be down to incorrect interpretation of the details, or incorrect specification of the details.

Soithern's site will not offer it either however the Forum site will for certain departures but only by changing at Stafford both ways.

WMT TVMs are not planner based, so worst case buy it from the TVM on the day.

It's theoretically time restricted on Easter Saturday though so anyone wanting to use it then is best advised to get an itinerary as the electronic restrictions exclude the whole Easter weekend including Saturday. But this doesn't affect the poster directly.

Restriction LG limits your journey to WMT (LNR/WMR) only, and without break of journey on the outward leg (ie you can't leave an intermediate station en route), no problem on the return.
But you can change at Stafford as well as Crewe (into the same Liverpool train ex Birmingham).
There doesn't seem to be any way to avoid the 55 minute wait* at Crewe on the return journey.

* or you could fill in the time by catching the 1233 from Crewe to Stafford which goes via Stoke, picking up your 1U32 at Stafford.
