Nuneaton - Tamworth puzzle

I was looking for the fare from Nuneaton to Tamworth and came up with the following 3 fares:
Standard Day Return
TICKET CODE SDR FARE CODE SDR - ROUTE NOT BIRMINGHAM £5-20
TICKET CODE SDR FARE CODE SDR - ROUTE TAMWORTH £7-60
TICKET CODE SDR FARE CODE SDR - ROUTE ANY PERMITTED £12-60

The routeing guide gives map TL - which shows the only route is the direct route via the Trent Valley Line - there are no applicable easements.
Can someone explain why there are 3 fares with only one possible route.

Yet another mystical routeing that means nothing - 'Tamworth'. As with my Kensington Olympia thread I'd have assumed this to mean 'direct' however it is not the cheapest fare :?. Confused? Well that's only the start of the matter.

Looking through the valid journey options for each of the three tickets it'd appear that route 'Tamworth' is an old ticket, no longer in use but still in the system. After all 'Not BHM' is the same ticket, and is cheaper.

That leaves two routeings 'Not BHM', and 'Any Permitted'. 'Not BHM' I'd take to mean is valid on direct services or with a change at Coleshill (or possibly Water Orton).

Judging by the significantly higher price of the 'Any Permitted' and the fact a 'Not BHM' exists would it be naive of me to say that the 'Any Permitted' ticket is, in fact, valid via BHM regardless of what the routeing guide says?

Only two of these are in the NFM- both priced by London Midland:

rte NOT BIRMINGHAM
SDR 5.20

(This fare is the Anytime "Day" Return)

rte ANY PERMITTED
SDR 12.60

(This fare is the Anytime "Day" Return)

The routeing guide does state that the only Map allowed between the routeing point of Nuneaton and the routeing point of Tamworth is TL and thus there is really no difference in the validities of these tickets but a large price differential of £7.40

The Any Permitted fare was probably put in the system by someone who does not understand the RG.

We assume that the people who price tickets actually understand the system, it is extremely unlikely that they do in all cases and I think this is one such case where they do not.
