OK, you said not (Greater) London. But how about the financial centre; the City of London.

Platforms: 76, when you count the tube, DLR and NR stations.
Population: 7,375

That's 97 people per platform! :D

There's only one private house within the City of London that has a private garden.

Bit off topic, but I thought you might find it interesting!

Back on Topic, Worcester has a population of 99k with 5 platforms, so about 20k per platform.

Here are some figures for Worcestershire (in approximate order of decreasing population in 2010 (in brackets)):

Worcester (98700) - 19470/platform (however on platform never gets used so you could say 24675 was a better figure).
Redditch (73100) - 73100/platform
Kidderminster (55000) - 27500/platform
Bromsgrove (39000) - 19500/platform (will become 9750 in a few years when station is rebuilt)
Malvern (39000) - 9750/platform
Droitwich Spa (23600) - 11800/platform
Evesham (23000) - 11500/platform
Pershore (7000) - 7000/platform

Surely Redditch has to be a contender for the highest ratio of people to population?

Bath is pretty high, with only two platforms and 84,000 just within the city (plus quite a few from surrounding towns and villages as far away as Radstock). That's 42,000 per platform.

In general, through stations will have more people per platform than termini, since there is less need for a train to wait in a platform.

I imagine there's a few low scores on the Looe branch- especially during the week when all the second-homers are back in The Smoke!

Not a contender for the highest or lowest figure really, but the Borough of the City of Salford seems to have about 6,666.66666666 people per platform (taking into account the Metrolink), always thought it was a strange place......

Ah yes, but you have to count the other two platforms at Oldfield Park, halving the 'people per platform' figure.
