I have just checked train times for Macc to Manchester for today and on Rail Enquires and noticed that the cheapest fare was £14.50 anytime return. No sign of the £9.10 Day return

I thought I would check the Virgin website and it was the same there. No sign of a off peak day return.

On Train line and TPE website it was listed along with the cheap virgin ticket they do.

Why is this... Has the Off Peak Day return been taken away and now Macclesfield only has the option of a Anytime option (which at £14 is a rip off in my opinion)

The Virgin Trains website does show the £9.10 return for me.

NRE appears to be broken!

Thanks Yorkie. Can't get it to show for me.

Correct just found the small print that allows you to view the return prices rather than the single prices.

Funny how NRE website aren't showing this price and only show anytime tickets.
At least I have a cheaper ticket option.

Thanks.

There's a VT-Only Day Return for £6.80 (after 0915, to Piccadilly only).
The £9.10 is any operator (after 0900, to Manchester Stations ie Oxford Road/Deansgate as well as Piccadilly).

I have checked return journeys Rochdale-Manchester, Buxton-Manchester and Knutsford-Manchester on the National Rail website and all are only showing Anytime Return fares for every day return journey regardless of day or time. I am going to contact Northern.

I rang Northern Rail Customer Services last night about the problem of Off-Peak Day Return fares not being shown on the National Rail website. The man looked into it himself, agreed there was a problem and said he would email National Rail Enquiries. However this morning I see that the website has still not been fixed and it is still only showing Anytime Return fares for every return journey in my area.

Nice to see its not just my local bit of the line.
At first I thought it might be them preparing for the January hike rise by getting rid of off peak tickets. I know in some areas and some journeys like Macclesfield to Edale the only ticket you can get is "Anytime Return"

I spotted the same problem the other day on NRE for Lostock-Manchester CTLZ. GWR's website did however offer the off-peak fare.

There is a technical problem at present that engineers are trying to fix (off peak day tickets are being found)

Surely a GM Wayfarer is the best ticket for Macc to Edale return?
