Where exactly was the problem?

I am on the Northern stopper having had to get off the TfW, but haven't noticed any particular issue with this train doing any part of the line slower than it should.
Good explanation in post 21, above.

Single line working now at Goostrey to Sandbach, everything using the down line (Manchester bound track).

It's is, much slower line speed though, and only 20 over the points. Ours lost about 9 mins, but caused the two trains waiting at Sandbach on the down to lose 15mins (AWC) and 10 (Northern).

most the intermediate pointwork down there is 40, except the 50's at sandbach and wilmslow. 25 crossovers south end of Sandbach, but 1 crossover wont cause yo to lose 9 minutes. The bidi line speed is only 60 though vice 110, so this is where you will have lost some time.

Both issues, the latter being a problem with the overhead power on the up between Holmes Chapel and Sandbach, appear fixed this morning, Wednesday.

Believe the block to fix it was done overnight with just the first couple of trains from Crewe to Shrewsbury having to be cancelled this morning as a result. At least its back up and running.
