Kevin Ayers made some good music, but I always thought it needed a better singer.

Yes, I like Joanne Shaw Taylor, and Janis Joplin was great - when she was sober. Also, I believe that Dana Fuchs took the part of Janis Joplin in a USA stage show about Joplin's life - and performed very well.

There is more of that kind of blues rock on Planet Rock radio (DAB) if you can receive it: - Bernard Doherty programme at Midday on Sundays, also at Midnight (Saturday night/Sunday morning) - for anyone who can manage to stay awake that long.
