I like the solo but without equal is stretching it (Gilmour's in the Pulse version of comfortably numb for example)

It's probably fairer that I say without equal in its style since it would be unfair to extrapolate the hard v. prog, fast v. classical sentiments and end up for example comparing Tony Iommi and Steve Howe when both are superb guitarists in their own right. I do like the solo in Comfortably Numb but I've always cared more for the slightly faster-paced, hard rock solos more than the more classically-influenced ones (to speak a language we both understand, I prefer Tipton's solo in Painkiller to Beyond the Realms of Death for example ;)).
