EMR have decided, without consultation, to close the footbridge in the middle of the station to prevent fare evasion. Whilst I never condone fare dodging it does seem like an over reaction. All passengers will now have to use the main Carrington st bridge at that exit to change platforms and to interchange from rail to tram. It also reduces the available emergency exits from the platforms from two to one. How long will it take staff to unlock the bridge at top and bottom of each set of steps, three of them.
