Nottingham Metro!

When attempting to book a train ticket on the East Coast site from Hucknall, on the Nottingham to Worksop line, to London, I found some very strange journeys available.
There were a number of journeys, many AP tickets, that included a connection from Hucknall to Nottingham by Metro! Whilst there is a tram service from Hucknall to Nottingham they certainly do not accept rail tickets and so I cannot see how these tickets can be sold.

One thing that leads me to believe that this could be a very big mistake is that the timings given for these Metro connections do not correspond with the tram times. Also there are Metro connections into early morning services from Nottingham and out of late night services arriviving in Nottingham after midnight. The trams only run from 0600 until midnight and so why are connections on this fantasy Metro being given for times like 0450 and 0135 ???

This seems to be a general error for journeys from Hucknall because these Metro connections do appear for other journeys other than to and from London eg Norwich.

yeah, all the sites use a central booking database, all of the sites NEVER recognise the direct Liverpool street to Peterborough services unless you force it to by putting in ipswich in the routed via, and then still sometimes it still doesn't!

It is the same in Manchester when the timetable database reckons there is a tram from Piccadilly to Victoria every minute 24 hours a day - which of course there isn't. And unless your journey is purely within the GMPTE boundary, they won't accept your ticket either - but that doesn't stop the computerised timetables giving you that misleading information.

In Manchester's case however it would be impossible to give accurate information. The Metrolink doesn't have a timetable, just a "First tram at xxxx, then approx every xx mins until Last tram at xxxx" timetable. That in itself bears no resemblance to what actually happens either as it is just pot luck as to how long you actually have to wait.

Because there's no way that any "normal" passenger would ever want to take that train for the full length? It isn't advertised at Liverpool Street as going to Peterborough or at Peterborough as going to London.

I suspect that's not the case. Just because the timetable isn't publicised doesn't mean there isn't one. Underground lines in London all have timetables but, mostly in the cause of simplicity, they are not widely published (except for the Amersham line). The rail booking engines may not have acess to these of course - and they really ought to know the tiems of the first and last ones...
