That's not the correct company, they use Dunn motor traction LTD, however Mr Ward was made a director of that company on the 10th of this month so it is probably him taking over.

I noticed Mr Ward formerly the company secretary had been made up to director. I think he's been associated with The Dunn family businesses for some time. No doubt Scott will need to leave someone in charge who he trusts if he's going to continue to run it from Australia

This one had slipped by me until yesterday, but I've noticed AOT Coaches are now running the 8AOT between Nottingham and Hucknall every 30 minutes throughout the day Monday to Friday - I think it was only hourly previously?

Not exactly Nottingham related but worth mentioning is that Wardle Transport (Arriva) Service X50, Derby - Stoke - Hanley is to be withdrawn from the end of April.

Having persevered with it for over two years they must have concluded that it has no viable future which is a pity because after a very slow start, there had been an improvement in loadings with some journeys doing reasonably well.
It suffered somewhat in being worked entirely from Stoke which meant the last departure to Derby being 15:15. Of course the Derby - Uttoxeter - Stoke road has always yielded slim pickings bus wise, from May it will be train only.

I understand Wardle are retaining the Uttoxeter to Stoke section as the X51 with more buses to Cheadle from Uttoxeter.

Sad but inevitable, I'm afraid.

Loadings may well have picked up but its not hard to do that when they were at virtually zero anyway. I only see the Derby end and it has been dramatically bad but from what you say, it must be worth a go from Uttoxeter.

Going back a long way, PMT (Potteries Motor Traction) used to run from the old Derby Bus Station to Longton via the old A50 (Uttoxeter, Checkley, Tean etc) with Fleetlines and Atlanteans. I don't recall that being too busy either.

As you say, its not a corridor that is a hotbed of public transport usage. Off-peak the train doesn't do very much either.

You could well be right, that might explain why Scott left Rotala/Diamond to setup Yourbus.

On another note, rode on of those new NCT double deckers the other day. A great ride. Odd layout with the minimal seating on the lower deck. Love the leather seats, aircon and overall smoothness of the ride though.

The Scania Enivro 400s have a smaller wheelbase than Omnidekkas, which is really noticeable downstairs. They also don't have aircon, I believe they have a "forced air ventilation" system for the upper deck

The further you go with TB the better value their fares seem to be. A standard ZigZag for £5 is a bargain really when you consider the expanse of their network. A single for the short distance from Draycott to Long Eaton is a whopping £2.70 though!

That's fairly common everywhere - at least in part due to the way ENTCS payments are worked out.

Non PTE area or non municipal companies £2.50-£3 seems to be the normal fare for short hop journeys, even TFL land if you haven't got an Oyster Card short hop fare is £2.40, although £2.40 is also the maximum single fare for those who haven't an Oyster Card.

And, of course, many of your soap powders are in fact made only by two companies so why the expense of several different brands? Unless, of course, each different service is a different product as opposed to just another bus service?

It's not that short a distance - it's 3.2mi from The Traveller's Rest to Long Eaton Green. And it's only £2.03 with a MANGO.

As others have noted, high single fares isn't unique to TB.

Where I'm living at the moment (Swansea), First Cymru charge £2.50 single to go from Swansea University to the Quadrant bus station - a journey of 1.9mi. As First have pretty much got a monopoly on travel in the area and there's no PTE here, I don't hold hope of ever getting a smartcard for cheaper travel, or live bus times for that matter.

From where I'm sitting, TB seems much better value for money.

Just thinking about comparable length journeys in Swansea.

It's 3.2mi from Olchfa School / Hendrefoelan Student Village (front) to the city centre, plotted using the 20/21A route. A single is £3.00.
