Have you travelled on TB Se7ens? (7.1 and 7.2) According to TB, after a complaint from someone on there facebook page, sevens is one of there worse used routes in terms of passenger numbers, always seems busy?!

TB's 22 is the quietest in my opinion.

BUS WAR

YOURBUS WILL START A Y5: BEESTON-LONG EATON-DERBY...Running in competition with TB's Indigo? Opinions?

The Y5 is already running!

Yourbus have potentially caught something good there. Trent Bartons Indigo is sadly very unreliable out of Derby & ALWAYS full to the rafters whatever the time of afternoon. Not helped when they cancel two in the space of one hour. I'm surprised they never increased the daytime frequency from 20 to 15 to deal with the issue. Instead they are introducing 'zoom' every 20 minutes from September - but only in response to the competition!

Yourbus Y1 (hHanor) & Y3 (Ilkeston) from Derby I can't see doing as well. Many users of Trents equivalent are transfering from other routes. If Yourbus had done something different eg extended the Y3 to Cotmanhay or linked the Y1 to the Y29 to run fast Derby to North Broxtowe Borough they might have developed new markets.

Just my opinions of course...

[

TB's 22 is a county council tender between Cotgrave & Sutton cum Granby.

One of there other quiet routes is the Amberline - this is also a tender between Eastwood & Hucknall.

Never realised TB did tender/contract routes!

Which ones do they commercially run and which ones do they run commercially?

Most routes have branded buses...but buses like the 22, 141 don't. Is this because of passenger numbers?

What's the rollout for the 22 - can't be more than two vehicles can it, with maybe an extra one for the peak extensions? Branding two buses is probably a bit of a waste of time.

Tricky to find out sometimes; Derbyshire make it clear on their online timetables, Nottinghamshire do on some at least.

The 141 is a bit of a hard one to grow. It doesn't serve any major communities not served by other major services except Papplewick, Linby and Blidworth (not massive).

On the Derbyshire online timetable library, then ALL those that are listed by TB are contract?

NOTTS+DERBY:

Can anyone give me a FULL list of routes that notts+derby run?The timetable library give some, but not all. Traveline don't give all. Carlberry may but don't think they do! HELP! Planning a notts+derby challenge!

The Ashbourne to Uttoxeter section of swift is funded as is the Sunday service I believe.

The 3 B used to get funding to serve Sherwood business park but it no longer serves it.

A couple of years ago Trent ran a number of contracted routes in the Matlock area on a Sunday , the 140, 17 and 215 if I remember, using any available solo which often saw Allestree and Royal Derby solos being used.

Any news on the result of yourbus public enquiry?

I know people generally detest Yourbus, but some of there routes have been a complete success and some a disaster, yes. But, TB are worried. For instance, look at the new 'zoom' in competition with the Y5. Red Arrow have decreased there fares.

People are becoming disgusted with Yourbus because of this PI, but really Trent Barton aren't as good as they make out. They have had a PI.

NCTX, as far as I know, haven't (correct me!,) but YourBus are competing against 2 routes in 1 now: There Y28 now connects Balloon Woods where the NCTX 30 terminates, so it I targeting the 28 and the 30. It is also serving Bilborough College, which gets no service apart from the College Link; There onto something now, I think. (Just my opinion of course!)

I don't support any company more than another-they are all as good as each other.

But YourBus aren't currently competing with smaller companies like Notts+Derby, (who I do think are excellent.)

There is a gap in the market for them: NO direct BUS service between Nottingham and Grantham, Notts and Lincoln and even Leicester.

Oh, and I have no idea on the result. Done a google search!
THESE ARE MY OPINIONS!!!

Apart from three peak hour college day journeys the only stops the Y28 is serving at Bilborough College are those at Burnside Green - exactly the same as NCTs 28.
The 'main' Bilborough College stop on Bilborough Road is served by the L33 and passed by the W3 - though for some reason it isn't listed at the stop nor on travelines full stopping list!

I sampled Yourbus Y5 yesterday and I noted that people are actually using it, early days yet but it operates along a very busy corridor and it could do reasonably well, given time.
The fare from Derby to Spondon is 20p cheaper than TB and the Mercedes Citaro's are quite pleasant to travel on.

It seems TB no longer have any desire to get involved in any cut price wars, preferring to just lop ten quid off their weekly tickets, no doubt a temporary cut. Yourbus should have an appeal to the casual traveller but publicity is critical and they do seem to have timetables at every stop but they have to get the message across that they are cheaper. However, people are so reluctant to try anything new and only time will tell.

Obviously Yourbus decided at an early stage that the only way to mount a successful challenge to established services was to offer a smartly presented operation with new vehicles running at a decent frequency all day, and this certainly appears to be a creditable operation.

Suffice it to say that Mr Hornby was out and about in Derby yesterday making observations!

Sorry, yes. If your local, do you know the L33? Sails past my house window and 9/10 times it is EMPTY>

No action was taken in Leeds yesterday but no doubt a warning was given. Representatives from NCT, Trent Barton and both Derbyshire and Nottingham councils were present which shows how much they're liked...

Is there any evidence of this?

Notts+Derby are part of Wellglade (owners of Trentbarton). Most of their routes are council tenders.

There have been bus services to all these places from Nottingham in the past but they've never really taken off.

The Grantham 625 Service was reasonably well used when run by Reliance of Great Gonerby in the early 1990s. When Mass Transit bought them out it killed the route off as the company was a disaster.

Yes I use the L33 to travel to Bulwell. Though it was more use when it was the 228 as I used it to connect to Robin Hood Trains.

The L33 is run to provide a service to Assarts Farm Estate at Nuthall & Bilborough College Estate at Strelley. The service is not really used as what residents of both estates would want - a through service into Nottingham - is not provided.

It appears from changes to AOT route 5 - now Oxton to Netherfield - that the county council is to stop funding routes into the heart of the city - and apparently this was confirmed at their June roadshows.
I therefore wonder how much longer Doyles 331 & Winson 65 will last in their current form?

Another example of the ludicrous situation we have with the 'City of Nottingham' being far too small and not actually representing the area most would associate as being 'the city'.

Didn't Trent try Nottingham to Leicester last year, and Premiere used to do one (finished in 2008/09) before they became interested in duplicating Trent routes.

The L33 was, before, the 33 operated by NCT! The advert: Yipee, its the new 33!' soon disappeared from site, as no one was using it. NCT said in he advert: It will bring Wollaton more buses.' They used it as a trial to see if Wollaton could be a commercially viable area to run buses in. NCT didn't see sense though - people of Wollaton want to go to the city not QMC and Bulwell!

So, NCT won't be serving Wollaton for a while and TB's TWO is quite safe!

I don't know which part of Wollaton you're talking about. Wollaton Vale, Wollaton Village and Bramcote Lane are all well served by NCT routes 30 and 35.

My thoughts exactly!

From Balloon Woods, all of Russell Drive and Trowell Road and all roads off here including Glaisdale and Lambourne.

Now...The L10 and L33 and W3 run but to be honest, the L33 doesn't go to the city, the W3 never turns up as it is Littles operated and only runs in a weird direction at peak times.

The only useful is the L10 which only serves 1 stop on the A609 stretch.

If TB didn't have the TWO, it would be completely cut off.

Don't know about Premier, but Trent did try and run a Leicester xprss bus. This, however, only had 1 in each direction a day.

To be fair though, National Express run every 30 mins from Notts to Leicester but no one knows that and you have to pre-book and of course OAP's can't travel free!!!

90: Marshalls: Notts-Newark Forgot about this
14: Paul S Wilson: Notts-Melton-Oakham How is this doing?

Agree fully! It is a 'unitary authority' what ever that means?! (Quote: Wiki)

Shame as well because the city councils bus stops are very informative and there public transport system, last year, was the BEST outside London.

Go into the county, you get awful (to be polite,) little bus stops which sometimes don't even give a route number let alone a timetable!

Is there any evidence of this?
Facebook: Trent Barton For Life. They put a post up about it in Leeds and around 60 comments state the same kind of thing (mostly.) The admin put 'this page is about all companies in the east midlands not just Trent Barton.' (Even though the title is very biased to TB :s)

Although...Notts+Derby serve Spondon stops unlike TB on a council tender. And now Yourbus are coming to destroy that tender?

Has there been a bus between Notts and Lincoln? If there has, its passed me by!

This is nowt to do with the original topic, but yesterday I went to the Nottingham Forest Huddersfield Town game, and as Nottingham station is closed we used the Red Arrow service between the two cities and I must say I was mightily impressed by the service and the cost £9 for 3 of us return, we bought the Zig Zag ticket, but that is a top drawer service. Wish we had services like that in West Yorkshire.

Centrelink runs free between Victoria and Broadmarsh every 10 mins ;) Victoria is apperantly meant to be improving its **** hole bus station!!! (Sorry!) TB are/have moved to a portacabin thingy
