I only remember Maun doing contract work (similar to Doyles now) but I could be wrong on that.

I found an old Derbyshire timetable book with a lot of their services in - I need to see if I can find it again...

It wasn't clear if the night services were "deliberate" or just getting back from running other routes to the depot.

A couple of buses that were used on citylink have been branded for Y5, they all seem to have the caption 'gimme (x) gimme Y5'. The two I've seen have had 'free wifi' and 'new buses' the latter not correct as they are six months old.

Delta was bought out by Trent, Omnibus was bought out by NCT (following the landlord of their Hucknall Hangar locking the gates due to lack of rent). The fleet of both went to the buyer, although in the case of Omnibus a good number of their vehicles were actually Sheffield Omnibus vehicles on loan, these were returned.

Some of the fleet was sold on in both cases, some was sent to the scrapyard.

I only remember Maun doing contract work (similar to Doyles now) but I could be wrong on that.

Trent most definitely did NOT buy out Delta Buses, they simply went bust.
The night they stopped running the vehicles in the fleet which were on hire (a number of M plate DAFs for instance) were being taken away by the rental company as they returned to the depot from service.
The following day no service ran, with no warning to passengers.
Trent did buy two or three Nationals from the receivers, but that was all.

ahhah - yes it was the ownership of the National's which lead me to believe they'd been bought out. It's very difficult finding details of this stuff on the web, all I have to go on is my memory from what was said at the events I attended as a child...!

The Delta/Trent scenario I understood to be the version of events was as follows:

Delta were expanded rapidly using hired WMT buses painted in a WMT derived overall green livery with red band
Delta were also believed to have been backed by WMT both financially & with support
Trent got wind of WMT's involvement and were threatening/intending to setup a sizeable operation against WMT in Birmingham, WMT took fright & pulled their backing from Delta at short notice
I understand Delta was originally setup to weaken Trent as WMT were interested in taking them over

Very interesting. I'd like to know what the real deal behind Omnibus was; back in the day I was told there was money from Yorkshire Traction/Stagecoach in the operation, but apparently it was Preston Bus who were behind at least the Sheffield operation?

Today I saw one that says 'Y3' on citylink. Didn't know they had a Y3!

Nottingham Heritage Vehicles seems to think they bought an ex-Delta bus from Trent.

They did indeed, as I said in my post, some nationals (I can't recall how many I'm afraid.... Long time ago!) were acquired from the receivers. At least one (WGY ???S) entered the Trent fleet after overhaul.
This was at a time when Trent placed a number of secondhand Nationals into service (a number of these were used as battle buses in as acquired liveries)
OHW 491R was intended to also enter the fleet but new vehicle deliveries overtook it and it was never used in service.

I'm not saying you're wrong - just that they're claiming there that Trent took over Delta.

Bit of backlash from Trent Barton registered on VOSA today. A new 'Zoom' service will follow the Indigo/Y5 route between Long Eaton and Spondon before going non stop to Derby from there, offering faster journeys than indigo and Y5, as well as meaning that there will be a ten minute frequency from all parts of the route from Long Eaton onwards to Derby, as the section not served by zoom is served by i4.

There are also timetable changes coming up on the Ilkeston Flyer and H1, could these be frequency increases?

I noticed today that Trent Barton are withdrawing the 101

https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/news-and-media/travel-updates

Trent Barton said:
We're making a few changes to xprss and radcliffe line from 28 July.

All evening and Sunday buses will run using green xprss buses to give you more space on board.
In the evening buses will run via West Bridgford and Radcliffe to/from Bingham every 40 minutes Sunday to Thursday and every 20 minutes Friday & Saturday. No change to late night weekend buses running until 3am.
Sunday buses will run every 20 minutes via West Bridgford and Radcliffe to/from Bingham.
radcliffe line buses through the villages to Bingham will no longer serve Clumber Drive and will run direct along Shelford Road
Bus 101 will no longer run. We're sorry to say we have lost quite a bit of money running this bus and it hasn't proved popular.
There are a few other minor changes to improve our timekeeping for you.

There are no changes to fares at all at this time.

For more details, check out the new radcliffe line timetable here or for xprss click here.

Notts & Derby operate the old Felix journeys on the Black Cat but now as route 11.
They operate a couple of rush hour Barrow on Trent-Derby journeys on Trents V3.

Interesting to see that they're now discontinueing the Frio.

I can see there reasoning why though, the Mango realy has took off and not many people buy Frios now.

During its run Frios were good. So a sad but happy farewell to them.

Thankfuly they're still accepting the valid ones though. I still have an old Felix one. That causes some suprise when I catch the 11! It must be the last valid Felix ticket in circulation, surley?

Apparently, local-link are on the end of contract now. Wonder if NCTX will keep them or Notts+Derby will have them or even TB or maybe even Your bus will take them?

But, L1, L7, L5, L2, L8 are Nottingham community transport so no NCTX can't accept £4 tickets etc. (as I found out on Friday on the L7 from Charlbury Road.)

Hi.

As an x manager and shareholder in Sheffield Omnibus. i can assure you that George Watson was behind it. the financial backing coming from a bus company not mentioned so far. Lets leave it at that :).But i can assure you it was not Preston or Stagecoach/tracky.

I resigned just as the Nottingham operation was about to start as i was against it. i think my decision was proved to be the right one.

As For Camms they didn't get the name Camms collapsible coaches for nothing. i went to see pat with a view to investing in camms when they where pitching for any tender that came out. i walked away when i saw the business plan. best laugh i had in years reading that.

The £4.00 Kangaroo ticket IS valid on Nottingham Community Transport as they run Nottingham CITY Council tenders and it is a Nttingham City Council ticket!

Nottingham City Transport £3.40 day tickets would not be valid on Nottingham Community Transport routes as they are different operators.

Premier Travel will be history in 12 months or they will go back to what they do best; the school run and park and ride. They are making an ass of the X99 Loughborough to Nottingham. Inappropriate buses and not too many fares taken for local Loughborough journies.

Took another 14 months! ;)

Ah magic - thanks so much for taking the time to respond. Looking up - it appears George Watson was involved in Stagecoach in its early years, probably the cause of the erroneous rumors.

Camms were certainly a big force in the tender business for about 18 months. I remember one year they even did the Goose Fair routes, with very recently withdrawn NCT Atlanteans. By the end of the 90s I think they had only 1 public service, the rest being school work.

In either 1999 or early 2000, the Camms brand was scrubbed from all their buses, although they continued to carry the "A. CAMM" legal lettering. At the same time Dunn Line started using the Camms name on some of their older coaches... seemed a strange choice to buy the Camms "brand"!? I think the A. CAMM buses were later branded as "Contract Coaches". Can you shed any light on the business plan and what happened?

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
On the George Watson theme he has a book out called We tried to run a bus company but...... its all about his tenure at Clydeside Scottish and a damn good read. he was also Head honcho at East Midland motor services under Stagecoach. hence the Sheffield connection. he still lives in the Chesterfield area and i was in touch with him on a regular basis till around 2 years ago. he was by then using a wheelchair on a regular basis but still sharp as a brand new Knife when it came to buses. he also had a hand in the ill fated Maineline operation that was Going to invade Ipswich and other places with a similar plan to the ones in Manchester who's name escapes me at the Moment

PSV - S28 - Consideration of disciplinary action under Section 28 (The Transport Act 1985)

See the most recent Notices & Proceedings.

Section 28 is entitled 'Power to disqualify PSV operators' - so the fact that this section is being mentioned is fairly serious. Their transport managers have also been called to the enquiry under Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 1071/2009.
