Yes it is, much quicker than the indigo/skylink. Makes sense to have a peak time express on top of the usual timetable. Premiere really do own that Long Eaton corridor now. Trent Barton have lost more market share in 2012 in the Nottingham area (2.8%)

Meetings are going on with managers at the airport after dozens of complaints about people missing their flights using the failing skylink.

Looooool!

For the last time, skylink is a bus. And as you are a massive premier basher, surely you will know that skylink isnt all TB?

All of this is inaccurate but I really can't be bothered any more.

From the way I see it, buses are not something I would rely upon to get me somewhere that is a reasonable way away, and I had to be there on time :P

Mind if I quote that elsewhere on the board... It backs up a point I was making...

It's 2.6% that Trent Bartons market share is down in Nottinghamshire:lol:(although they did not provide figures for the 146 plus some Rainbow 3 services!).They lost funding for both as a result.

Stagecoach down 2.8%.

Premiere and Yourbus see the biggest gains.

Red 5 gets a new "leg" as well as Red5x, it's to a area poorly served by others!

Where's the area? Draycott?

Good to see Premeire eating away at TB's share and extending their network. Why does nobody ever take on the NCT routes? I know we had Y36...but plenty of other routes to eat away at!

Because 'eating away' at other routes is unethical and most operators wouldn't stoop that low.

The new legs are to the Sawleys. There will also be a 15 minute timetable, basically proving that the every 10 minute frequency was a flop, and that the rubbish about the tram works was another pathetic sob story.

It will still be every 10 minutes at Morning and Evening peak , the Red 5x makes up extra runs. Also got extra buses out on Friday and Saturday nights.

Old Sawley buses will be every 30 minute so will take pax off Indigo, My15 and Skylink:lol:

Loads of people just catch the My15 to Long Eaton from Old Sawley.

Is there much chance the frequency of the Skylink will be increased given how it's currently every 30 minutes and it's often said to be very busy? Trent Barton generally rise to the challenge too.

That's just the current skylink timetable isn't it? Hopefully Premiere's new 5x will eat into their loadings. I find skylink patronage to be patchy sometimes light, sometimes heavy. Mostly when it's full it's because the other one hasn't turned up or because it's late! I've caught it to Loughborough before at peak times and it's only had 5 or so people on it all the way! This is at peak times. Not sure it's a huge earner at all giving how long the route is, and how much resources that takes up.

Only if they've got a few spare buses laying around, which I doubt. Anyway, what would be the point of increasing the frequency (more buses, more petrol, more drivers) to decrease the revenue per bus?

It's the January 2013 timetable, showing no noticeable changes. I agree the Loughborough end is particularly quiet whenever I've caught it too. Other than a few villages in between the airport and Loughborough it doesn't really serve any markets. EMA-Loughborough is already covered by the Derby Skylink, Nottingham-Loughborough is covered by Premiere and trains, and what little market there is for Long Eaton-Loughborough, this is presumably eaten up by the far quicker train.

Only if they've got a few spare buses laying around, which I doubt. Anyway, what would be the point of increasing the frequency (more buses, more petrol, more drivers) to decrease the revenue per bus?
That's not the innovative spirit! If frequency was increased to every 15 or 20 minutes the service could be relied upon much more as a "turn up and go" service plus the reliability would most likely improve and given how there'd be another bus along soon anyway, the delays wouldn't be as annoying as they are now. The fact there'd be more seats available on the buses as opposed to the overcrowded ones now would also make the service more attractive. All in all it would be able to attract new customers and steal a few back from Premiere but hey ho.

Where's this real time tracking then? The new ticket machines are causing more lateness as their drivers are struggling to work them. The skylate must have broke some unofficial record for lateness when it comes to bus services. 20-30 late on nearly every run.

Another day of carnage on the skylink. They've been sending buses up the M1 (presumably empty?) to collect passengers at the airport today! Ryan Air etc can't be happy about this. Derby and Leicester at least seem to have a half decent service to the airport, Nottingham's one is absolutely terrible, even the TB fanboys now have to concede what a shambles it is. A453 used to have 1 in 5 bad days.....this route has 4 out of 5 bad days.

Or blame TB and the Airport for withdrawing the funding. TB are abusing the skylink brand, the airport is losing footfall from the Nottingham side. Who's making these decisions? Who approached who? Why does this limited service stop have 4, yes 4 stops in Castle Donnington? Why do they send this bus to Loughborough?
