Nottingham 5Z47/5Z48/5Z49

There are currently (SSuX until 17/5/13) three sprinter runs based out of Nottingham Eastcroft depot, 5Z47, 5Z48, and 5Z49. They appear to run to Mansfield Woodhouse and Derby via goods lines such as Pinxton, Castle Donington, and Toton HLG.

Anybody have any idea what these trains are for?! Route learning?

I understand these are route learning trips in preparation for the Nottingham remodelling this Summer. EMT will need ways to get their trains between Nottingham and Derby for maintenance, so the drivers need to know the additional routes between them.

Actually, it's not a sprinter, but Chiltern Railways' Class 121 railcar 977873 [W55022].
