Anybody seen the Norwich Union advert...of which I saw recently on ITV3.

It features a 458 at a level crossing then the camera goes into the train which isn't a 458 if you know what I mean.Passengers going on about something and the guard is funny/scruffy.

Im hoping to get it as im watchin a Richard Pryor/Gene Wilder film on ITV3.

Does make me laugh when they use a train on the outside and a totally different train on the inside.

I remember them doing this with a 442 coming out of a tunnel.(Wallers Ash Tunnel but seem to remember that the interior was not 442 related.

For the unsuspecting public methinks.

Any idea where I could get either of these adverts?

Thanks in advance.

Yep 458 across the crossing, then 377 inside. It's in one of the end cars (you can see the end cab door) and the seating is 2+2 around tables. I think that's a /2 or /4 ??

Someone told me it was a 377 or something but as I never get on those trains I don't really know anything about them.Wonder where the crossing is.

I think the 442 advert was a slammer inside.(ooer)

Thanks for the help both of you.

There was a Kinder one which was a 442, and inside looked like a slammer (don't tell me how I can remember but it had NSE decor)

I think it's funny how they like changing the train. Virgin Trains did an advert last year (with some red indians) and the interior was first class in a pendolino, but all outside was a voyager, and they made it appear as though the voyager was about 12 cars long

what also made me laugh was when Virgin lost their franchise, the BBC had voyagers showing, whilst when they said arriva would be taking over, they showed some really grotty ATN / ATW pacers making it look like they would be on XC services!

No i think it was NSE upholstered MKII B/C stock ex Waterloo - Exeter stock or ex Paddington stock from the early 90's. Don't know where it was filmed though.

If anyone's interested, the conductor is none other that Brian Hibbard. He was the lead singer in The Flying Pickets, & was also in Corrie a while back, as garage mechanic Doug Murray. ;)

OK I have a base on which to search but I thought it was some sort of Insurance Advert.

Conductor on the 458 advert?

If a conductor wore his tie like the actor in the video I reckon he'd get a right rollocking.:?

I have that on DVD my dad was a driver for VT (now XC) and they sent it him its got lots of extras about how it was made. The outside was a voyager because the line was not fitted with wires so they couldnt use a pendo or something like that

Its like in the film Creep, they jumped between different classes of rolling stock every shot!

there was a lot of debate a few years ago when Madona released the video 'hung up' which appears to be set in an Alstom 1995/6 stock in part of it, but the grab poles were silver...

I notice they often use the former JL platforms at Charing Cross for filming - although unrealistically the nutri-grain advert featured a man dropping a 'deliciously soft and oaty' bar on to the platform so all the standing passengers which wer clogging the train would get off to fight for hit so he could get on... but it's a terminus so they'd be getting off anyway

Talking of adverts, does anyone remember one a few years back for Virgin (when they still had regular HSTs) that had some colleagues on a train, and another colleague in his car (who looked sort-of like Branson) and it ended up the car guy was stopped by the police as the train passed?

I remember the one where the loco had a blue flashing light on it can't remember what it was about. Was it a class 37 or 47 nicking another train and I think you caption was you would see a train get nicked for speeding?:?

The other one I remember was a train pulling out and a passenger called it back and it reversed back into the station.Im sure these are on UTube somewhere.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN7naLLeB0A&feature=related that'd be this one!

British Rail adverts from the 1980s and 90s were very good, especially the one 'night train' and this very strange advert called 'weekend away' which I'm not sure if it ever aired.
