The Oslo-Kristiansand-Stavanger Sørlandbanen is closed and replaced by a bus between Oslo or Gjerstad and Kristiansand; this will probably affect access to the Arendal line. The reason is reported to be the derailment of a goods train seriously damaging 11.5 km of track. No date for resumption yet and information is sparse.

A goods train has derailed on the Sørlandsbanen around Vegårshei and the section is blocked. There is extensive damage to the track, and Bane NOR is working to repair the section.
For now, we expect the stretch to remain closed until Friday 24 May. The information is continuously updated.
We run buses for trains between Kristiansand and Gjerstad until the section is opened. Between Stavanger and Kristiansand, and Gjerstad and Oslo S, most trains run as normal, but delays may occur.

Banenor now saying that the line should reopen on Sunday (26-04) at 23.00. Be aware that there are also routine engineering works on a weekday: see Go-Ahead’s website.
