Northwich to Colwyn Bay

I have friends who want to travel by train from Northwich to Colwyn Bay. The only fare I can find is £21.70. Does anyone know of a cheaper one? I've tried splitting the journey but it does not seem to save any money.

One of those strange incidences where the Single and the Off-Peak Return are exactly the same price. Been sniffing around and £21.70 seems to be the cheapest, even on the TOC's own website

I don't think you can split it to save money. Even if you use the Duo fare for Northwich-Chester it costs more than not splitting.

Using Small Group tickets from Chester to Colwyn Bay as well would save a bit compared to the cheapest through return.

This is just a guess, though, as 40fan hasn't confirmed how many people are due to travel, what time of day they intend to travel or whether they intend to travel back by train at all, or on the same day.

The Duo fare is 1.5 times the cost of the off-peak return adult fare, with no further discounts available.

Oh, okay. Small group tickets are no good, then, as they're for 3-9 people.

£13.90 is the price for a return ticket which is valid for two people travelling. As the difference between Northwich-Colwyn Bay and Chester-Colwyn Bay is less than £3 each, it's not worth it.
