Well last time this happened I bought two copies from the same shop in Lancaster, because I was only there for one day and wanted to have two tokens so I could use the offer after I got home. Didn't get any funny looks!
To be honest, it isn't that strange. I've bought two of the same paper before, one for us and one for another family member, it'll be a common thing
I suppose the risk then is they'll change it to be unambiguous that you need two tokens per day rather than two tokens per four tickets!

To be honest they seem to enforce that anyway, so it's probably for the better that they update the terms to reflect that.

No, I wouldn't think so. The idea is to encourage people to travel!
Anyway, of all the TOC's Customer Service people that I had dealings with I've found Northern's to be about the best at being helpful rather than obstructive as some others always seem to be.

I am thinking of going to York for the day on one of these £10 tickets from Northern Rail.
My preferred route would be Chinley-Sheffield-York, which is Northern Rail CLY-SHF but the SHF-YRK bit is Cross-Country (even though the route is on the Northern Rail network map) - so is this a valid journey on the special deal?
If not, I'd have to go Whaley Bridge - Manchester - York, which takes longer.

You can only board Northern Rail trains on this promotional ticket.

Makes it a little bit limiting then. However, I have discovered that even though you can't use Northern Rail's own journey planner to select only their own trains, if you select "advanced options" on the National Rail journey planner, you CAN set it to Northern Rail Only.
I bet all you ticketing experts already knew that though

There are two trains each way per day between York and Sheffield via Pontefract - either that or you'll have to change at Leeds.
I wonder if one day the Johnstone Press Group might run this offer in their Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire publications.

If you don't mind me asking, when were you thinking of doing it?
I was thinking of doing Leeds - Lancaster - Carlisle - Settle - Leeds, which makes quite a nice day out (with an hour at Lancaster and Carlisle), probably on the next to last Saturday this month.

I thought the vouchers were only in the papers last week but got the Dewsbury Reporter today and it is in again this week as well (under the Reporter Series, so probably in the likes of the Batley one too) - just in case anyone is local and missed the vouchers last week
Well, got my rover yesterday thinking it would be lovely to try the Hull - Scarborough line for the first time. Turned up at Hull Paragon only to find a replacement bus service 
So, I decide to do the Hope Valley as I haven't done this for a while. I get the train to Sheffield and arrive at the platform, only to find a Merseyrail Pacer. I'm not sitting on one of those for an hour, so I wait an hour for the next one. Guess what. Another Merseyrail Pacer.
I don't know what the people of the Hope Vally have done to deserve such a biblical plague of Merseyrail Pacers (offended a vengeful God I presume) but at this point I give up.
Sometimes it's hard being a railway enthusiast.

I should add, I did the Brigg line for the first time which was absolutely delightful, so at least it wasn't a complete waste of ten pounds.

Easter holidays soon so will be out and about. Planning a mega 142 bash on a Saturday to see how long I can stay out just on 142s.
There have been a few of the Great Western ones around this way recently for a bit of added variety !
Good to hear, shame I couldn't make it down to the SW to get them in last year., but bit closer to home so no excuse now.
I'm down Donny way in a few weeks and was going to do this - but instead I'm getting the route in that goes Hull - Selby - Doncaster (which I also think is one train per day). Lincoln - Hull apparently is now the longest Northern service that is booked for a 14x.
