Hi, i have an interview with northern to be a conductor soon.
i was wondering what would happen at training if i got that far. earlier in the year i was at signalling school with network rail. i failed an assessment by 4% and had my contract terminated and was on the dole for the 1st time. could a similar thing happen with northern.

Of course you can fail the training, you would then have your contract terminated.

That would be a worst case scenario and I'd imagine if you pass the interview and assessments you'll manage to complete the training. They won't spend the money on uniform, inductions, training etc then let you fail unless they have safety concerns. My experience of their conductor training was very positive with the less "enthusiastic" of the trainees receiving additional one to one coaching to help them along.

If you fail you get a 2nd chance. Possibly a 3rd chance though not gauarteed. Never heard of a case in Northern where you get booted off the course for just failing once. Cant believe Network Rail were that bad.
