Currently got an application in with northern but after watching the news this evening I’m worried it might be a pointless exercise. I’m guessing nothing will change day to day but wondering if recruitment process will change

Yeah, I've had an application in for driver at Manchester since September that states "application in process" still. When I rang a few months back they basically said if you're still in the process you will be considered and you don't need to reapply. Just a waiting game as per.

This topic has cropped up before.

If worst case scenario and Northern do get the bullet the whole recruitment system will simply transfer across to the next TOC.

Virgin Trains were still advertising on their vacancy board up until a week before they finished and West Coast Avanti have taken over all live applications, talent pools, etc.

Its very early days yet and there seems alot of scaremongering in the press during the last 24 hours so I wouldn't dwell on it too much.
