Northern units leased on a part time basis.

Northern Rail apparently have units 150103, 150106, 150117 & 150132 on a part time basis and will not be repainting them and just applying a Northern vinyl to them. Can anyone explain what 'part time basis' means?

I'd make an educated guess at it meaning they'll only be used at peak times. However, it would seem to make more sense to not allocate specific units for peak time use only for easier diagramming and maintenance schedules.

It's Rail magazine that's claimed Northern have 150106. I think it should be 150114 instead.

I presume they mean short-term, like the 180s, or perhaps a kind of 'as required' spot hire basis.

They probably mean short term while Northern gets the rest of its Pacers back if they are any still down in Devon which I don't think so.

The 150s and 142s were to join the fleet together rather than some of the 150s being stop gap while the 142s came home. All the loaned 142s are now back in the North.

I think the story is poor reporting from Rail magazine as nothing was noted in the DfT releases or by Northern when the shuffle was announced.

I think your right I was gonna say thought all 142's had been returned

Can't be right. The same DfT Press Release mentioned 8 additional 150 vehicles for Northern also mentioned 14 additional 142 vehicles.

It's got Northern seat covers, they would have just left the old tatty Central ones in if it was only short term.
