Most of them were repainted internally and all had the seats covered in First moquette. I can see why First didn't spend to much money on them when they knew they were going. GWR got there priorities right in investing in the fleet which will be staying. The 150/2s are much better than these and Northern should follow GWRs example with there 150/2s.I quite like that refurbishment of 150102. It is a world away from the state they were allowed to get in to with GWR! Yes 3+2 seating is not ideal but the seat backs on these seats are fairly comfortable and perfectly fine for local based commuter journeys.
It does look OK, but still looks very stark with a lot of white and the exposed lighting tubes don't help. They need diffusers fitting.
No matter what is done to these, it's like polishing a turd.
