Sorry, 476 appears to have made it to Crewe instead of 477!

There was also a 170 at Holbeck Depot yesterday, didn't catch which one though

150121 is not coming up today. It was still on the Devon Metro today. Nor was it un-branded

I haven't been in Yorkshire for a while but last time I was there was a 144 on a semi-fast diagram.

While what you say about the Lincoln service being semi-fast is probably correct, your source doesn't actually confirm it.

http://maps.dft.gov.uk/northern/index.html

It doesn't say 'only calling at' or give a maximum journey time for Leeds-Sheffield. In another section it also talks about giving Elsecar twice as many services to Leeds as currently.

True. Taken in combination with the now withdrawn May 18 timetable its clear tho.

In another section it says nothing of the sort about Elsecar.

  • the new operator will seek to provide half-hourly services at Elsecar, which currently receives only an hourly service for most of the day
That could just as easily be the Penistone line services.

Under Leeds-Sheffield-Nottingham (not Huddersfield-Sheffield)

  • services will be re-routed to run via Wakefield Westgate instead of via Barnsley, allowing journey times to be reduced to 1h40 or less.
  • existing service frequencies between Leeds and Sheffield via Barnsley will be maintained
  • the new operator will seek to provide half-hourly services at Elsecar, which currently receives only an hourly service for most of the day

That suggests an additional Leeds-Sheffield via Barnsley service every hour to replace the service re-routed via Wakefield and that Northern will try to stop two of the Leeds-Sheffield services at Elsecar every hour to give a train around every 30 minutes, if possible but as you say it's vague and from what has been said not only could Northern stop a Penistone service instead but they could simply say they weren't able to get paths which would allow a half-hourly frequency.

I gather a Northern 142 was moved by road from Newton Heath to Wolverton a couple of weeks ago. Anyone know which set and what for please? Has one had a bump recently?

What you originally said was "In another section it also talks about giving Elsecar twice as many services to Leeds as currently."

I still don't see how you can draw out that it will be a Leeds service from what the text states:

  • the new operator will seek to provide half-hourly services at Elsecar, which currently receives only an hourly service for most of the day
Its a benefit *on* the route, but it does not say anything which suggests that will be an additional service to Leeds, and for it to be so would make for a very odd set of calling patterns, when there is a much more obvious alternative.

So, are 150121, 127, 130, and 131 the only 150/1s left at GWR?

At the moment. There will be 150125 and 150926 sometime in the near future when the two hybrid vehicles have been removed from them as posted a couple of posts ago

Yeah, I'm not counting 150125 and 150926 because their fate is still is limbo. I meant out of the 15 'pure' 150/1s which are going over.

Others might have seen it but the first time for me .

Saw 319458 in the new Northern livery this morning at Liverpool Lime Street
Talking of 319458, I travelled on it tonight on the 1720 LIV-MCV, the unit off which would normally (M/F) lurk in the reversing siding until becoming the lead unit on the 2209 MCV-LIV.Tonight it looks to have gone back to LIV as the 1900 ex-MCV, in place of the unit off the 1740 LIV-MCV, which has been cancelled. So the 2209, unusually, should tonight be a single unit. (Probably, 319458).

Bearing in mind that 319424 and 319458 have recently entered Northern service as '319's, has the 'flex' programme been paused, or perhaps slowed? I appreciate that there's a limit to the number of 319s which can be converted to 769s simultaneously, but things don't appear to be progressing as rapidly as I might have anticipated.

There is an update in the relevent thread saying testing should start in the next few weeks.

I would guess until they have completed 1 unit and tested it, they are not going to start modifying the other units. Thus they would be fully available for use.

22:09 not running at all, no driver, whole diagram (17:40 Man Vic, 18:57 Huddersfield, 20:15 Man Vic) all uncovered.

458 will remain in situ in the reverser at Victoria now.
