Northern Trains Nottingham Service

Can anyone tell me why the 1st Northern Trains service into Nottingham in the morning travels via Toton and Attenborough Jcn rather than Trowell Jcn to Lenton via Radford Jcn as the rest do. Thanks.

There's also a Southbound morning service via Derby (non-stop), and a Northbound evening service via (and calling at) Derby. I believe this is the only Northern service to call at Derby. I'd imagine this is for route-knowledge purposes in case the Erewash Valley is closed
