Northern - Trainee Train Driver - Blackpool (11/08/24)

Good afternoon, everyone.

I was wondering if anybody else on here has applied for the trainee driver position at Blackpool North. The closing date was the 11th August and I'm currently 'under consideration' but wondering if anyone else locally has applied as it would be nice chatting to like-minded people.

My thoughts exactly. I've checked and have seen lots of different experiences (some even as long as 5 months until hearing). It's just good to know I'm not on my own and that others have applied for the Blackpool one. It's frustrating because there aren't many depots we can apply to due to location.

The only other depot I know is Avanti in preston, but theres a lot of speculation about the new depot in crewe being the main focus point.Meaning its unlikely they will be recruiting in this location in the future, which is a ashame if this is true.

They just advertised at Preston for qualified drivers. 21 jobs going I was told

Your very welcome, Opportunities will come mate, just when your least expect it. Plenty of well knowledged people on this forum which are very helpful. It's fierce competition out there so im not expecting much.Rushed my application form to beat the deadling could of done more on it to be fair...recruitment team are screening a lot of applictations. So like you said it could be months, Its a long time to wait especially if its bad news.Im hoping Northern rail give out bad news before good.Then I can get on with my life, If they are the cards im delt with.

I've just noticed, now. I wonder if that means they've filled the roles for trainee drivers and are looking for qualified next.

They wouldn’t have filled the roles that quickly as it only recently shut.
They probably just need a few Qualified Drivers for a quick fix whilst they train up new Drivers.
Like most companies at the moment they probably have a lot of people coming up to retirement.

Thanks lenny 1986...Iv seen that myself, Is it a good move for Qaulified Drivers to go for northern rail...how would rank it compared to other tocs...

I've just received an email saying that my application will not be progressed further.
