Hi all,

I am new to the forum. I have been to Liverpool Lime Street for interview with Train manager today, they said that there are 20 people to interview and 3 positions available. Anybody else been for interview ? I read some of the threads in preperation and some of the things I picked up really helped me.

Thanks

I too attended LLS for interview this morning - what time did you sit yours?
How did you think you got on with the questions? I think I did well and managed to answer all questions put to me appropriately...I was told they will be interviewing tomorrow and will contact us if successful Wednesday evening or Thursday am!!

Not as yet. Hopefully hear something soon. I was told to expect a response within 7 days so if nothing tomorrow, hopefully early next week.

Is this for the position advertised about 4 weeks ago?

I applied and did the online assessment, which I thought I did well at, but I have heard nothing more.
My application detail on the NR website just say online assessment completed...

Yeah, the closing date for applications was 30/08/2012 and the interviews with Train manager were held Tuesday and Wednesday of last week as far as I am aware.

Hi Mik, congrats on the offer. I too start on the 8th but for Manchester Victoria. I presume you're at LLS?
That's extremely quick work of Northern for telling you immediately you had passed the managers interview on the tuesday and 2 days later giving you an assessment centre. I had to wait over a week to hear I had passed the interview: and then another week to get an assessment date (which was another 2 weeks). Im glad of the wait though as I had time to prepare and get work booked off!

Yeah the Northern training academy is at Bolton Station. You will be given your staff pass for the free travel though.
On depot specific days you will be with a trainer from your own depot!

Does the staff pass arrive in the post before the start of the course? Or do we have to buy tickets for the first few days..

I can't speak for Northern but FCC sent out a travel pass prior to me starting so I didn't have to buy any tickets. Many congrats on escaping too ;)

Your application for yours and spouses travel pass will come with your contract.
If they don't arrive on time purchase a ticket for your first day and keep the receipt and hand to the admin bird at Bolton. She will then do you tickets for the rest of the week.

Cheers. Got the contract last wednesday. Got the photos done and the travel forms stamped by a solicitor straight away and put it back in the post Thursday morning. Hoping they arrive this week. :)

Some of them might. A "special periodical" arrived prior to me starting. This allowed free travel on my TOC's own network.

The proper staff pass (which works in barriers and can be used on some other TOC's) took a few weeks, with the PTAC (for London Underground) taking another couple of weeks. I'm assuming you won't be getting that one though!

I'm waiting patiently for my ATOC card... Please bring it soon Royal Mail!
