I guess there will be opportunity for overtime which would boost the wage abit?

I guess it would be easier to get promoted to conductor internally aswell.

Yes overtime is always available so they said. HR mentioned it would be easier to progress internally so fingers crossed

I have been invited to join this course, I still have not had a medical so therefore not had an official offer of employment, am worried

Did you receive a email? Or did they call you? I'm guessing you have a short notice period to serve. Was you on the 3rd Jan assessment?

Seems weird to be offered a course place before your medical but I've had a discussion with someone on here who currently works at Manchester Vic and he had his medical a month into the course.

An offer of a course place is technically a offer of a job.

I had an interview on Thursday at Leeds and the conductor manager advised me to contact HR if I had any questions.

Hi, I was at the assessment @ Leeds on 3rd Jan, they phoned me Tues to say I had passed assessments and the course would be starting 20th Jan @ Leeds, another phone call on Thurs to verify all information and that is it!!!

This makes me feel a bit better, I need to work notice at my job next week and I thought if I need to go to a medical too I am not going to be popular there. All that said I am pleased to of got through everything. Good luck with your interview result x

I also know someone who had his medical and assessment before his interview, there seems to be no set pattern to the recruitment process.

I was told on Thursday that they will ask for references before me going on a medical and it's supposed to be the other way round.

As I say, an offer of a course place is an offer of employment, all the best and hope I have passed my interview soon and get on the March course.

I got a call saying I'd passed my interview and I did my assessment last June.

The lady didn't give me a start date and said I had to wait for a position to come up at Skipton, however, I'm getting an information pack sent to me so does this mean I've more or less got a job?

Just medical to pass.

We are proposing to keep your application on file and if in the meantime there are any vacancies at Wigan we will contact you at the earliest opportunity.

Your interview will remain valid for a period of 6 months and your assessment for a period of 5 years.

My wife received the same email today, I'm gutted for her.

My view is, they still clearly need Conductors at Wallgate but possibly more desperate at other depots. Limited course places so they need to prioritise.

Northern do have a history of this so I'm guessing patience will be a virtue.

It had better not be the end of the road, I sat in a carpark in Leeds for 3 hours whilst she sat her assessments, no way am I doing that for nothing.

Sorry to hear the vacancies have been withdrawn.

I had the same thing happen to me in September last year.

As you maybe aware, I gained a second interview last week and got told yesterday that I had passed it and an information pack will be on its way to me (conditional offer of employment).

So I hope this gives you both hope and at least you have done the interview and assessment.

Once again, sorry for your bad news but don't give up.
