Northern Trainee Conductor (Wigan)

Hi everyone, just did the online Numerical & verbal tests & it now says "Application under consideration"
it's the furthest any of my applications have got to date, so not keeping my hopes up. Plus have no idea on the volume of people who have applied for the Wigan roll.

I assume this means my test scores were borderline and have to go through some sort of sift?

Good luck if you make it through to assessment day. I have been offered a position for the Piccaddily vacancy but live in Wigan myself, so would rather be located at that depot haha. I did mention this to the managers at the assessment day.

Hi, I'm at the same stage as you, completed the online tests this morning and just waiting now twiddling my thumbs. Pretty nervous as this is my first time applying. Have you heard anything yet?

Also applied for the Wigan job. Any info on shift times (earliest/latest), number of links at depot, etc.. would be appreciated.

According to a reliable(ish) source they have quite a good route card

Well nothing heard back yet, still at "application under consideration" so either im just awaiting my rejection letter, or they have a hell of a lot to sift through.

Well just got my rejection email. Thats the end of the line for my railway career me thinks, I cant keep filling stuff out just to get application unsucessful everytime. I think its just not meant to be.

It might be worthwhile getting people to look through your application, NOT family or close friends, and see if there are any glaring errors or omissions.

A lot of people just fire off a CV or fill out an application form, believing that it is fine, with no understanding that it might not come close to addressing what the employer are looking for.

Maybe, maybe not. Whilst you might not have "Customer Service" as such you might have something that you can use to cover that.

Don't you see and experience Customer Service every time you get on a train or go to Tesco so you know customer service when you see it?

Logistics - is that not supplying customer needs - arguably that is giving customer service in my eyes! League times to decrease delays to customers, improved handling systems to get products to the customer etc, etc.

It's all down to the spin you can put on it.

Well worth having someone look over your CV and application to see if there is anything missing or a glaringly obvious mistake you've made but don't look as something such as "customer service" and think it does not apply.
