Hi good morning all, newbie to both this forum and the railway industry! Had an email couple days ago saying I had met the required criteria for the Conductor role at skipton and was placed in a holding pool pending course vacancies in 2017. Just wondered if anyone on here had any ideas of the training for Northern and what routes the skipton depot operate, also what is a realistic average salary for northern guards? Thanks all eager to get things going :)

As far as routes are concerned, most of your time will be spent on the triangle, which is Skipton to Ilkley, Leeds and Bradford Forster Square. They also sign the Settle-Carlisle line and Lancaster/Morecambe.

I stand to be corrected, but I think traction is 142, 144, 150, 153, 155, 158, 321, 322 and 333

All of the above is correct I'm a Skipton Conductor, a course started in November so one should be starting sometime in the new year.

Average basic salary is £25,929 plus commission on ticket sales which is 3% of the value of each ticket sold, also opportunity to do overtime so it depends what you work really in regards to average wage.

Good luck
