Apologies if this has been done before, I couldn't find anything and it seems quite new, but some former 'TPE only' fare routes have been renamed 'Northern & TPE', thus giving the passenger more flexibility. I noticed this when planning a day trip from Selby to Hull and despite brfares saying that the fares are applicable 'from 28 September' I swear this has only happened in the past couple of days. Sadly some fares are still 'TPE only' or 'Northern only;. There's even more icing on the cake, the off peak day return is cheaper than the old 'TPE only' one!
This may have indeed been the case since 28th September, but I can't recall it previously. The only thing is Northern set the 'via Brough' fare, the closest there was to an 'any permitted', as well as the Northern & TPE fare, so could be argued to be against the ticketing and settlement agreement but this punter isn't complaining! Yes, I'm aware of the Hull Leisure Return at the bargain price of £8, but oddly that can only be purchased through Hull Trains and Ticket offices and doesn't have the option of a late evening return, has a vastly reduced frequency etc.
Are there any more examples of this new fare route? I see unfortunately Leeds to York still has any permitted and Northern only, which is a bit pants, but market segmentation (as well as price gouging) and all that...
