No, it hasn't. And my point remains. The disparate separate companies to whom you refer are bound to participate (at the very least, as regards ordinary "Any Permitted" types of ticket, and probably to a much broader degree) in The Railway. One cannot compare to independent bus operators outside London for whom almost the exact opposite is mandated. Their particpation in The Railway could easily and should extend to all interfaces with the passengers, including at ticket issuing facilities, manned or not.

The railway you seem to want is back to BR where there was only one flavour of anything.
The current railway has a dozen or more independent commercial entities, all using their own systems for their own ends.
You'll be pleased to know that Trenitalia is bringing its own booking engine to c2c soon, just to add to the mix.
Meanwhile the DfT has not updated the ticketing system since BR left the scene, so it is getting progressively more antique and unfit for purpose.
The RDG doesn't represent the DfT and the regulator, only the TOCs and Network Rail, and they have no mandate to force changes.
In any case "The Railway" is increasingly not unified with independent regulatory bodies for London, Scotland, Wales, the North etc.
One size will not fit all any more.

If they can get away with running ONE minute after the requirement, I can complain about TWO minutes before it! And with a massive numbers of calls for it to be later, making it earlier is a backwards step!

Like I've said multiple times already it seems Northern have based the entire Macclesfield/Stoke May 2018 timetable on TSR1, as is the case with other lines. Complain about one service being two minutes earlier than it should be all you want but that has to be one the smallest breaches mentioned on this forum, so few people are going to have sympathy for the last service not meeting TSR2 requirements. Yes under TSR2 the last Stoke service is supposed to be at least 2 minutes later but the one in the timetable has a bad path between Piccadilly and Stockport (behind a service timed for a 75mph DMU.) As a consequence of that it means it departs Stockport at 21:57, so from Stockport onwards it's no later than a 21:49 service from Piccadilly with a good path and I can't see any Piccadilly arrivals at around 21:35 where an official connection can't be made.

Putting forward an argument that the franchise requirement for the last service is too early is fair enough, provided you and others that would use a later service made that point when the franchise was being consulted on.

Hope it works better than Santander bringing their own computer system to TSB accounts :P

Santander is nothing to do with TSB.

Indeed. Santander had issues bringing their own system to Abbey but that was a long time ago now. TSB were a part of Lloyds TSB which HBOS sold off so they had to move away from HBOS systems to their own.

Sorry, Banco Sabadell, the recent accounts chaos was because they were migrating the accounts from the British system to the mother banks computer system. Specifically TSB was running on the 'Lloyds' banking system and it was being migrated to Sabadells 'Proteo4' system.

Used one of the new services from my local station for the first time today !

Well done Northern. I'm sure there'll be some teething troubles, but the additional trains do (in most cases) represent an improvement.

At least the switch of TPE from the CLC (Warrington Central) route to Chat Moss and Manchester Victoria, with Northern backfilling on the CLC route, seems to have worked, plus 2tph via the Ordsall Chord loop through Manchester for TPE Airport services.
No cancellations so far that I can see, though there was considerable lateness to some services, particularly this morning.
So half a cheer for TPE/NT.

08:21 Lime Street to Airport departed 7 minutes late and was terminated at Oxford Rd due to a replacement crew member being unavailable.
10:13 Lime St to Airport departed 34 minutes late and was terminated at Piccadilly to recover time.
11:51 Airport to Lime Street started at Piccadilly due to no inbound arrival at the airport.
13:51 Airport to Lime Street terminated at Oxford Rd due to a replacement crew member being unavailable.
15:14 Lime Street to Airport cancelled throughout due to no inbound arrival.

RTT this morning shows a Liverpool service from Preston cancelled, a train crew reason for a Blackpool train cancelled, and that was just a cursory glance...

All good with my service this morning - was one time, then stated a minute late, in the end it was about 30 seconds late departing. We then had a wait at a red for an extended period - limited capacity at the station. Only downside is it is now a 2 car unit and not a 3/4 we have had for years.

Now to see if this evening service is affected due to continual changes over the day.

I can see Northern cancelling the 07:15 Knottingley - Leeds this morning as going down extremely well with the passengers of Woodlesford! :D

There were around 30 services cancelled during this morning's peak, not including severe delays and part cancellations. They'll be a lot of unhappy commuters across the Northern network!

All the trains on the Clitheroe/Blackburn to Rochdale services, which used to be 3 or 4 carriages in the peaks are running as 2 carriages today, with nothing showing on journey check to suggest these are short formed. Have posed the question on Twitter without response, but guess they might be busy today. To be clear the number of trains over the peaks has not changed, just the timing smoothed to provide a more consistently spaced 1/2 hour service.

The Blackpool North line stopping service between Buckshaw Parkway and Manchester stations had no trains for two hours this morning, the only reason it's not longer is the previous train was delayed by half an hour. An unusable commuter service, had to come into work via car. I pity the people who don't have that option.

NRE only owns up to a restricted service between Preston and Blackpool*.
Of 15 NT services from Oxford Road 1000-1100, 5 are down as cancelled.
TPE running but often 5-15 minutes late.

* now extended to say "minor delays on other routes".

I noticed NRE is showing 10:41 Manchester to Chester cancelled but no mention of it on Journey Check. NRE is also saying the ticket office at Knutsford is closed, which Journey Check isn't.

158871 is currently down to work the 17:42 Man Airport to Barrow; firstly where is the booked 185 and secondly how long must it be since a Northern 158 last worked through the Piccadilly corridor?

Here's a thought, how some passengers will get confused from the weekend by the timetable changes, end up on the stopper from Crewe to Liverpool which goes through Manchester by mistake rather than getting the faster one that goes via Runcorn?

I believe that it advertised as Deansgate from Crewe up to Wilmslow and Manchester Piccadilly from Liverpool to Newton

Don't think a Northern one has since 2004/05 when they moved the FNW sets to Neville Hill.

There seem to be a lot more 321/322s working all day out of Leeds today - is this due to the new timetable or just covering for out of service 333s?
