Northern start 3-car repaints

144 014 is the only 3-car pacer in Northern livrey at this time but more will follow shortly no doubt.

Just wondering - having never been on a three-car pacer, does the centre car have four doors, or is it arranged like the centre doors on 2-car units (ie: one on each side of the train, so 2 doors).

Because they are Northern's Units. The 150's/142's used to be in GMPTE Livery and the 142's in Merseyrail and these are now in Northern Livery. They'll still stay to the East Side though.

The PTEs seem to be okay with Northern repainting their trains (WYPTE I believe paid for the centre cars of the 144s?) as long as Northern foot the bill and they still carry PTE branding. Northern's Pacers carry both South and West Yorkshire branding now.

It makes more sense for passengers too.

Plus the fact that the WYPTE livery was getting very tatty on most of them.

As someone said, the centre car is funded by WYPTE and by the looks of that picture, it has two Metro logos on each end, rather than the alternating Metro/Travel S Yorks logos on the outer cars!
