Hi guys,
Do tell me off if this is the wrong section for such a question, but I am undertaking to travel on every Northern Class 142 (for obvious reasons, though being mad helps) and every Northern Class 158 (because I love 'em).
Is there a way of finding out which particular class of DMU Northern lays on for a particular service, or at least tends to? Or is it totally random/whatever Newton Heath gives them at that point?
Of course, some units sleep in Sheffield overnight, and I think some are shovelled off to Neville Hill, too, so it could be difficult to say as they may simply rest where they end up.
